InstaFry
Bobotie pies
Serves: 5 • Time: 30 min

Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp butter, unsalted
- 1⁄2 onion, diced
- 1⁄4 cup carrots, peeled and minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 slice white bread, crumbled large slice, use another 1⁄2 slice if slices are small
- 1⁄4 cup of cream
- 2tsp. curry powder
- 1⁄2 tsp. ground coriander
- 1⁄2 tsp. oregano
- 1⁄2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1⁄2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 kg mince
- 1⁄2 granny smith apple (minced)
- 1⁄4 cup golden raisins
- 1⁄4 cup dried apricots, diced
- 1⁄4 cup fruit chutney
- 1⁄2 lemon, juiced and zested
- 2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper, to taste
Method:
- Use the DIY setting to turn on and heat the Midea InstaFry pot.
- Heat olive oil and fry onion and garlic
- Add curry powder, salt, fruit chutney, dried fruits, worcestershire sauce, ground coriander, oregano, ground cumin and dried thyme and mix well.
- Add mince and mix everything well.
- Soak the bread in milk until fully absorbed and add to the pot along with the raisins.
- Put the pressure cooking lid and pressure cook on low for 4 minutes.
- Quick release the pressure valve.
- Roll pastry dough and cut into desired shapes.(remember to use flour so it doesn’t stick to surfaces.)
- Add Bobotie filling to the pastry. Use a basting brush to apply egg wash in between pastry to ensure it doesn’t fall apart.
- Use a basting brush to apply egg wash on the entire outer surface of the pies.
- Put the pies in the Instafry pot, put on your air fry lid and air fry for 15 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy.
