Ingredients:
- 200g dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 30g fresh parsley leaves, chopped
- 30g fresh Dill leaves, chopped
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 30g all-purpose flour
- Cooking spray
Method:
- Drain the soaked chickpeas and rinse them with cold water.
- Place them in a food processor along with the onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne pepper, and salt. Pulse the mixture until it is well combined, but not pureed.
- Add the baking soda and flour to the chickpea mixture, and pulse again until the mixture is well combined and starts to stick together.
- Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls or patties, about 2 tablespoons each.
- Preheat your Midea air fryer to 200°C. Spray the falafel balls or patties with cooking spray on all sides.
- Place the falafel in your air fryer basket, making sure to leave some space between them. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping once halfway through, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the falafel from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving plate. Serve hot with sides of choice.
Tips
- Make sure to soak the chickpeas overnight to ensure they are fully softened and ready to be processed.
- Do not over-process the chickpea mixture. It should be well combined, but still have some texture.
- If the falafel mixture is too wet, add a bit more flour to help it stick together.
- Be sure to preheat the air fryer before adding the falafel to ensure even cooking and crispy results.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this can prevent the falafel from cooking evenly.
- Serve the falafel hot and crispy with your favorite toppings for the best taste and texture.
