Malva Pudding with Sticky Toffee Sauce

Serves: 6 • Time: 30 min

Embracing our roots and sweetening up this Heritage Day We whipped up a classic South African delight, sticky toffee malva pudding, in the new Midea 7L MultiFlavour Air Fryer, and it's pure indulgence. The perfect blend of tradition and innovation in every bite. 🇿🇦

Method:

Sauce

  1. Put your cream, butter, brown sugar, salt and apricot jam in your oven dish.
  2. Set your Midea air fryer to 200°C for 10-15min, making sure to open and stir frequently, preventing the top from burning.
  3. Once all the ingredients have been properly combined and the sugar has dissolved, the sauce is ready.
  4. Keep it warm in the air fryer at 40°C while you prepare the batter.

Malva Pudding

  1. Mix together the butter and sugar until the butter is light and soft. Then, blend in the apricot jam, followed by the egg.
  2. Next, dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk.
  3. Sift the salt into the flour to remove any lumps.
  4. Alternate between adding the flour and milk mixtures to your batter, beating them in until fully incorporated. Finally, add and mix in the vinegar.
  5. Spoon the batter into suitable containers, and pour half of your toffee sauce into the batter. Remember that the pudding will rise during baking, so only fill the containers halfway, including the sauce.
  6. Set your air fryer to DIY mode, at 170°C, and bake the pudding for 35 minutes.
  7. Once it’s done, slowly drizzle the remaining sauce over the hot pudding, allowing it to be absorbed.
  8. Serve your delicious creation with custard or ice-cream. Enjoy!
