Homemade White Bread


  • 1 Package active dry yeast
  • 2 ¼ cups warm water
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp canola oil
  • 6 ¼ Cups all-purpose flour

4 1/2 hours


  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add in the sugar, salt, oil and 3 cups of flour. Mix until smooth
  2. Stir in more of the flour, ½ a cup at a time until it forms a soft dough
  3. Place the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until elastic and smooth
  4. Place dough in a bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 – 1 ½ hours until double in size
  5. Punch the dough down and divide in half. Shape the dough into 2 round balls
  6. Grease the inner pot of the pressure cooker and place 1 of the halves inside. Cover and let rise for a further 30 minutes
  7. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and turn the menu dial until you reach the “Bread” function. The time will default to 1 hr 45min. Press start to begin cooking
  8. Once timer has ended, turn the bread upside down and place back inside the inner pot. Close the lid
  9. Turn the menu dial until you reach the “Bake” function. Using the +/- buttons, adjust the time to 5 minutes
  10. Press start and bake until golden brown
